  • Just in case you missed it and have FOMO, here's another picture of that delicious carrot cake I posted last week!⁣
Seriously, consider this me taking care of you, because honestly I'm just trying to get you to eat more vegetables! 🥕🥕🥕 ⁣
And in the spirit of honestly, I will tell you that:⁣
-I didn't think anyone in my house would like this recipe⁣
-I intended on giving the entire cake to someone who loves carrot cake⁣
-Turns out everyone loved the cake (except for the frosting, what is wrong with my kids?!?!)⁣
-I was only able to give a slice to my friend because everyone tore through this cake so fast that I had to actually hide her slice⁣
⁣
Have I convinced you yet? Go bake this damn cake! And come back here and tell me all about it! Link in bio!
  • What do you think when see you multiple ingredients from various countries in the same recipe? Faux pas, or fo-sho? (That means 'for sure' for my less gangsta readers)....

Coming from a very culturally-confused background means that personally, I'm very used to seeing zaatar, sumac, or pomegranate molasses coexisting happily next to feta or basmati or chapatis. That's what happens when you have a food-crazy family who comes from and lives all around the world. Nothing shocking here!

But I know that for some, there are major faux pas that shouldn't be committed when it comes to eating and cooking.

For Italians, it's putting Parmesan on any pasta that has seafood in it. For the French, it's spreading foie gras with a knife. For others, it's mixing various strange ingredients together that don't really seem to belong.

But oh do they belong together in this braised beef recipe (here I used French Paleron) that combines soy sauce, honey, cinnamon, Mexican chiles, ginger, fish sauce, and more into a flavor-bomb sauce that will rock your world. Thank you Alison Roman once again for a life-changing recipe. This broth (the beef too, but the BROTH!!!!!) has taken my tastebuds to places I didn't know they could go. Swoon.

The recipe is on the blog here (in French and English!): https://www.gitanjaliroche.com/honey-soy-beef-alison-roman/

  • How much would you pay for a failproof, perfect recipe that you can use for the rest of your life? 🤔⁣
⁣
For me, recipes like this one are totally priceless, they're the gift that keeps on giving! I mean please, would you look at that crackle!?!?⁣
⁣
This one-bowl brownie recipe is on the blog (in BOTH English and French!), as it's been my go-to recipe for years! ⁣

❤️ Head to the link in my bio or go here: https://www.gitanjaliroche.com/one-bowl-brownie-recipe/

Inspired by the recipe in one of @pascale_weeks books, I've made it so many times that the pages are stained with chocolate and the book opens right to the page with this brownie recipe! ⁣
I hope you'll love it as much as I do!
  • Have you made a New Year's resolution? Hey, neither have I! 😂 ⁣
I find that New Year's resolutions never work, not because we're not motivated, but because life gets in the way of doing absolutely everything you dream of doing when you're drunk on Champagne on New Year's Eve...🍾⁣
⁣
That said, I have decided to try to be kinder to myself, which involves 2 things:⁣
⁣
1. Not feeling guilty about eating delicious, somewhat fatty, or carb-loaded food.⁣
2. Continuing to try to develop healthier versions of recipes that I love, like these healthy blueberry muffins that have whole-wheat flour, coconut sugar, coconut oil and Greek yogurt.⁣
⁣
What did you decide to work on for this New Year? ⁣

Healthy blueberry muffin recipe on the blog! Link in bio or here: https://www.gitanjaliroche.com/healthy-blueberry-muffins/
⁣
🇫🇷⁣

  • Paneer for the New Year, hooray! 🐭🎇⁣
Seriously though, can we all agree to make more food at home this year, instead of buying loads of pre-packed junk and thinking we're eating healthy? THANK YOU, I'm so glad we agree! ⁣
⁣
Other than that, I wish you all a happy new year, filled with homemade paneer and other delicious things, because hey, with this giant COVID mess we might still be stuck making our own cheese at home for a looooooooong time, am I right? ⁣
⁣
If you want to learn how to make paneer at home, head to the blog. ⁣
⁣
Or, continue sitting at home in your Christmas socks day-drinking mulled wine and Champagne because hey, it's a holiday today! (Don't look at me, that's absolutely not what I'm doing....🙄)
  • Do you really need another chicken curry recipe? No, you don't. 🌶🍲⁣
But do you want another chicken curry recipe? Why yes, you do! ⁣
(Don't forget to save this post so you can make this recipe, I know you're going to want to make it again and again!)⁣
⁣
I know a thing or two about chicken curry, that I can promise you. I've tried pretty much every recipe out there: with yogurt, with turmeric, marinating vs not marinating, coconut milk vs coconut cream, butter chicken style, spicy tomato curry, Thai curry, you name it, I've tried it! ⁣
And after years of trying to finally find THE ONE, I've found one recipe that I can make in one pot, in 30 minutes, with minimal effort and ingredients I've always got on hand. ⁣
⁣
All you need is:⁣
🔷 Chicken⁣
🔷 Some spices⁣
🔷 Canned tomatoes⁣
🔷 Coconut milk⁣
🔷 Fresh ginger, garlic, coriander, and lime⁣
⁣

  • Merry Christmas! 🎄❤⁣
⁣
Hope you're all having a delicious holiday, full of wine, Champagne, and whatever you eat in your own country on Christmas day! Speaking of, what do you traditionally eat for Christmas where you live?⁣
⁣
I know I'll be stuffing myself with these delicious chocolate cinnamon shortbread cookies [recipe on the blog and in the link in my bio], as long as I can still get my hands on them! (since two pairs of little hands keep stealing them faster than me!)⁣

  • Are you doing a Pre-Christmas detox prior to your Christmas Eve and Day binge eating? 🎄⁣
You are?! ⁣
(Don't look at me because I most definitely am not!). And this soup is definitely not a good detox option because of the quantity of cream, butter, and potatoes in it, but hey, does it really matter? NOPE!⁣
⁣
New recipe on the blog: leek and potato soup. Simple, easy, nothing particularly fabulous or exciting, but definitely what you need when it's too cold outside to go shopping for some more inspiring vegetables. 🍆🍄🥦⁣
⁣
Sometimes we just have to make do with what we have, and sometimes that means that it's boring-old potato soup for dinner! 🍲⁣
⁣
What's your favorite 'I'm too bored to go get groceries so I'm cleaning out the fridge' recipe?⁣
Ps. If you're wondering if the kids liked this recipe, the answer is...NO. Oh well, can't win every time I guess! 🙈
  • 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐭! 🍪🎄⁣
If you're looking for an easy, versatile, perfect cookie recipe that you can double and keep in the fridge to have freshly baked cookies on the table in 12 minutes, then look no further! (That's how much I love you, you're welcome!). T⁣hese Cinnamon Chocolate sable cookies are my go-to shortbread recipe, and I know they'll be yours too!⁣
⁣
This recipe has been a favorite of mine for years. It was originally shared by my old team at 750g, and I adapt it only by changing the cookie-cutter shape! Usually, I just make animal shapes for the kids (and myself, who am I kidding?), but for Christmas I've got a few festive cookie cutters hiding somewhere in the back of a drawer. ⁣
⁣
All it takes is one bowl, one whisk, and a few simple ingredients that you've definitely got lying around. ⁣
⁣
Grab the recipe for these Cinnamon Chocolate cookies via the link in my bio, or visit my blog by copy/pasting this link: https://gitanjaliroche.com/chocolate-cinnamon-cookies-recipe/⁣
⁣
  • Here comes the recipe! 🌺 (Be sure to save this post so you can make these cookies again and again!)⁣
⁣
You guys keep asking me for the recipe for the edible flower cookies I posted a while ago, so, as promised, here it is! ⁣

100 g almond flour⁣
1 tbsp vanilla extract⁣

Sorry guys but it's a long recipe and I can't fit the whole thing in an Insta caption! But you can learn all about how to make them and the different types of edible flowers you can use on the blog! Enjoy! ⁣
